Import the Marine Mammal Science database into an existing database.
Open your existing database. If you don't have the Papyrus-Papyrus-Transfer format PAPX in your formats library, you have to copy it from the included formats library. Therefore you should choose liBrary and find the "MMS_PAPX.FLB" formats library which was delivered with the Marine Mammal Science database. Copy the PAPX format and go back to the main window.
Choose iMport. Papyrus asks for the "File containing the references:". Please type in the destination where the file "mms_pap.exp" resides. You can search your file system by using the F2 key.
Now Papyrus asks different questions regarding the import:
Using format:. Type "PAPX", or just "P" and hit the F2 button to choose the right format from the list.
Then you have to decide which fusiness level Papyrus should use for the import. Go ahead with "oblivious", which should be ok for that import.
Keep Reference numbers. Decide as you want. You can enter a special starting number for incoming references. That'd be a good idea for creating a defined range for this import.
Duplicates. If you already have some Marine Mammal Science citations you might want to take care for any duplicates by choosing "Manually choose". If you just want to let any duplicates out of your database, choose "Automatically skip". If you want to care about duplicates later check "File always". If you are not satisfied with your own entries you can also choose "Keep new, delete existing".
After that Papyrus prompts for keywords. If you choose a keyword like "Marine Mammal Science database" you can later identify all the references of the import. Tell Papyrus that it should keep all the incoming keywords.
Finally Papyrus suggests names for the import log file, the rejected file, and the duplicates file. Just use, what Papyrus suggests. Now you can see the importing progress on your screen. The import should not exceed 10 minutes.
Happy watching.
