Volunteer Opportunities with the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, Scotland

Isle of Mull, 9. März 2002 - HWDT requires volunteers for a variety of research and education projects throughout summer 2002. All posts require relevant experience. Applicants must be enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated for at least 2 months. Please define which project you are applying for.
HWDT Bottlenose Dolphin Project
Volunteers are required to work full time on research and education projects from June until September 2002 on the Isle of Islay, Hebrides. Based at the new Islay Marine Interpretation Centre by Lagavulin Bay, volunteers will be carrying out various tasks, including:
Photo-identification, land based surveys, boat crewing, analysing and writing up data, running the centre, environmental interpretation, web design and public talks.
You will need to be able to fit into a small team and live in a remote island community. Basic dorm accommodation will be provided at the centre.

HWDT Boat
The new HWDT yacht will be sailing throughout the Argyll region conducting research and education projects. Volunteers are required to work full time between May and September 2002. Tasks will include: Crewing, cetacean monitoring, acoustic work, photo-identification and environmental interpretation. Volunteers will need to be able to work well in a small team and have good sea legs!
Accommodation on the boat will be provided.
HWDT Marine Discovery Centre
HWDT HQ in Tobermory, Isle of Mull requires volunteers to work part time between now and October 2002. Tasks could include: Environmental interpretation, fundraising, administration, computer support, web design and, on occasion, assisting the boat project. Accommodation is not provided by HWDT.
HWDT Ardnamurchan Land-Based Survey Project Based at Ardnamurchan
Lighthouse and interpretation centre, volunteers are required to work full time between June and September 2002. Tasks will include: Land based surveys, using a theodolite, assisting the analysis and writing up of data, environmental interpretation and public talks. Volunteers will need to be able to fit into a small team and live in a remote community. Accommodation is available, though not provided by HWDT.
